Japan 2010 - 竹富島 Taketomi Island

We said farewell to the Yafusos and flew to Ishigaki Island. From Ishigaki, we took a　boat tour to Taketomi Island, which population is only 342 people; so more tourists visit each day than their own. What is the island famous for??




Water buffaloes,


This dead looking plants, growing from the stone fence, are the water buffalo's favorite food!


In Okinawa, people traditionally build stone fence around one story houses to be protected from typhoons.



Beach with star shaped sand also attract lots of tourists.


Taketomi so-ki soba, buckwheat noodle. So-ki soba is a Okinawa cuisine. So-ki means a bamboo basket in the Ryukyu language. Since a bamboo basket resembles its shape to pork spare ribs, So-ki soba has pork spare ribs with the cartilage still attached on top of buckwheat noodle. Yes, David ate it and loved it.

P.S. Matt, even though water buffalo were famous there, they did NOT have buffalo milk like we had in Cairo!

誕生日Party

１月２０日は佳志美ちゃんの二十歳の誕生日でした。リクエストにお答えして（って結局作ったのは佳志美ちゃんだけど）お寿司をみんなでいただきました。さとみちゃんは佳志美ちゃんの新しいクラスメイトです。



前日に作ったレアチーズケーキもとってもおいしかったです。




おめでとー佳志美ちゃん！

初めてのペンキ塗り

仕事場からもらってきた小さな物入れにペンキを塗った。そうです、赤ちゃんの小物入れ。

１．やすりで側面を削る。


２．塗る。反対にして、底から塗った方がうまくいく。


３．よく使うところは２度塗り。

４．ご褒美。 Aunt Diane からもらった、超おいしいチョコレート。

佳志美ちゃん、いらっしゃい。

佳志美ちゃんが、来ました！飛行機が遅れながらも、無事に着き、時差ぼけも直し、ユタでの生活を始めたので、私も時々ブログに佳志美ちゃん日記も書いていきたいと思ってます。主に写真だけになりそうだけど（笑）。



先週の土曜日に一緒にＭＴＣ（宣教師訓練センター）にボランティアに行きました。そこで、出雲で伝道していたときに出会った前島明人長老に出会うことができました。私の知っている彼は、まだレッスンも受けていなかったので、その彼が改宗して、伝道に出るのは奇跡の一つ。彼の証を聞いた時に、涙が出そうになりました。



その後、友達が集まって、佳志美ちゃんの Welcome party をしました。大好きな Laura Wintch 姉妹は彼氏連れで、柳姉妹から伝道中にもらったレシピから私の大好きなコーンブレッドを作ってきてくれました。やっぱり、Wintch 姉妹の作る料理は最高です！




そして次の日、日本語ワードの教会に一緒に出席しました。佳志美ちゃんも緊張してたけど、パーティーで会った友達や、新しい友達もできて、楽しかったみたいです。

昨日から学校も始まって、今も宿題をしています。早速良い目標もできたみたいで、私も楽しみです。
私もデイビッドも佳志美ちゃんがもたらす良い影響に感謝してます。
