Day 3 & 4 - Walking

My mother bought a passometer for David and me. Since then, our daily goal is to walk over 10,000 steps everyday. And we praise each other at the end of the day.

Ankake pasta is an unique way to eat pasta in this region. This place was full of all workers in Nagoya city.

On weekdays, my father goes work at 8am and comes back around 8pm, typical Japanese worker's life style. My mother is somewhat similar. So, yesterday, David made dinner under the direction of my grandmother.

Day 1 & 2 in Japan

After 22 hours since we left Normandy house in Provo at 5:30am, we finally arrived Nagoya Japan airport. (Thank you for dropping us off at the airport, mom.)
We both slept here and there in the plane or while waiting for the next flight.

By the time we got to Nagoya, we are pretty exhausted but nothing can stop us from eating delicious Japanese food! So, this is the very first picture that we took in Japan.

It's a famous restaurant in Japan and they serve delicious fish.
That night we arrived home after 10pm, which was 6am in SLC. We both slept really good in futons, the traditional Japanese bedding put on the floor.

Next morning, Day 2, we woke up before 6am.

My brother came back home to see us from Tokyo. He got home about 1am the night before. So, we got to see him in the morning.

We decided to get breakfast at a popular cafe in this area. It's about 15 minutes walk along the river called "shonai gawa," in which David commented "it sounds like Sho ga nai" and we burst out laughing, because "sho ga nai"means "it can't be helped" in Japanese.
Anyways we went and ate breakfast. In Nagoya, you don't buy breakfast, but a drink. So, when you order a drink in the morning, it automatically comes with a slice of toast (a large buttery piece) and an egg. We got there before 8am, but you see people dressed in suits and some were already leaving. It's on Saturday 8am!! Well, I guess we can see similar things around temples, right?!

Then, we went out for my favorite Indian curry restaurant for lunch and my dad took us fishing.

David caught some fish and dad cooked them for dinner.

Then, we visited my friend who grow up with together across the street to see her baby. We came back 11pm and went to bed. What a day from the day 2.

Colloquially speaking

I LOVE learning new words and phrases. So, I simply write this blog by using new terms I learned in past few days.

I love working at the MTC. My coworkers, whom I see everyday, speak both fluent English and Japanese and plus. When I am around them, I do not have to be on my toes or do not have to bring a game. When I mean by that is we all can make jokes using both languages and understand completely. So, no body does not feel "it's all Greek to me" or "チンプンカンプン."

Since I did not pass the NCTRC exam this Monday, my new goal is to make a study plan so I can effectively become an expert of preparing the exam. Any advice?

Lastly, I really like this picture thanks to my dear friends, Sarah (camera) and Becky (hair/makeup). They are awesome. And what makes this picture more valuable to me is my husband's cute twitchy smile.

Graduation Convocation

Graduating from Recreation Management & Youth Leadership with my last name being Tueller, we waited till the very end. So, special thanks to grandpa, grandma, Aunt Rachael, and David who cheered me there.

Following day, I received a surprise gift from my dear friend/family in Hawaii.

So excited that I had to carry it around to show all people in the world (=David) from different angles.

やっと graduate.

Woke up at 6:10am, astonished by the snow, I expected graduation would be cold and dark. Well, all the snow melted and it was actually warm by the time convocation started.

Today, April 22nd of 2010, over 6,000 students graduated from Brigham Young University. I graduated from Marriott Business School, Recreation Management and Youth Leadership, optioning Recreation Therapy. I have to be honest. I was much happier than I thought I would be. My husband, David's support was tremendous so as my parents, family members and friends. So, cheers for them as well.

The guest speaker was Elder Todd Christofferson, the twelve apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He talked about his good colleague brother Hugh Nibley, who said the only thing we can be good at is to forgive and to repent. That is what we tested here on the earth, and I should not take other things too seriously. Like I should not get so serious about bugging David to clean the house with me. JK.

I thought a talk from Alumni association was funny. He said consider CTR as also "Choose to Replenish." He meant to let us continue this great institution of learning through the Spirit, generation to generation. Still, it was funny to me.

I was very lucky to sit at the very front raw of the Bachelor Student (woo hoo to the Marriott Business School and my friend Sarah who was lining up at the very front). But since I was very front, it took forever to find David who sat at the very back of the Marriott center. It was rather dramatic when we found each other the size of the thumb.

I have many future plans. Becoming a mother, getting a job, and going to a graduate school are my top 3 interests. So my job is to be prepared for whatever comes next. I am grateful that my future is bright regardless of whatever I choose to do.

For they were all men of God. (Alma 48:18)

Today had been a great day for me to gain more testimony of Jesus Christ and His true church.

I drove to Orem by myself at night, which I usually do not do because I'm still scare to death to drive especially under 2 circumstances: dark and unfamiliar place.

After getting confirmation from the Holy Ghost that I would be safe, I left. (David had priesthood meeting to attend.)

Brother Jack Christianson who was recently called to preside over the New York mission gave a marvelous talk. He started off from what President Eyring said.

"Brother Christianson, the Lord is in this work. So is Satan."

Then he continued on about trusting in God, seeking help, and welcoming it. Ask for angels to help the person. The Lord will never give up on me or anyone, because I am his.

He mentioned that "the smell of cigarette is the sweetest smell in church" because that's the sign of someone trying.

At the end of his talk, he shared the remark from Elder Holland. Elder Holland quoted from Alma 48:17-18. He compared Moroni with Christ, Ammon, and even the sons of Alma who were rebellious and wicked. Then Elder Holland powerfully said

"they were all men of God" because that is the healing power of the atonement.

This night, My love for the scripture increased and re-committed myself for giving greater love for my dear husband, David and being more diligent in studying the scriptures.

I bore my testimony with tears to my husband when I got home. I am truly grateful for which I have and am.
